Andrea Pirlo, was born on 19 May 1979 in Flero, Lombardy. Playmaker for both AC Milan and the Italian free kicks.


He captained the national team to a bronze medal in the 2004 Olympics.

He was named man of the match 3 times in the 2006 World Cup.

He is called “the metronome” because of the way he dictate the pace and rhythm of the game.

Andrea is married to Deborah Pirlo and they have 2 children together.

Pirlo is one of few European footballers with Romani ancestry.

His brother Ivan plays for a Serie C2 club in Brescia.

He was nominated for the 2007 FIFA World Player of the Year Award but the trophy was won by another Milan player, Kaka.
